CARMEN BERRY, is a New York Times bestselling author, inspirational speaker and skilled workshop trainer. She has written, co-authored and ghost written over thirty books, published by HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, Penguin, Thomas Nelson and smaller publishers. Having been translated into nine languages, her books have sold over a million and a half copies worldwide. Carmen tailors her message to meet the unique needs of each audience. Her areas of expertise include: overcoming adversity, stress management and burnout prevention, recovery from trauma and addictions and training for aspiring authors.

June 2006: Against a backdrop of a ten-year civil war ravaging the small country of Nepal, Carmen sat in the U.S. Embassy in Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu clutching Jenee, the baby girl Carmen had fought to adopt for the past two years. Having battled rampant corruption in Nepal’s legal system, she had only two days left on her visa before being forced to leave her baby behind. Carmen would not be allowed back into the country for another eight months. How would such abandonment impact Jenee? What would happen to Jenee without her mother to care for her?

The State Department told her the Nepalese army was to stand down to allow thousands of Maoist rebels to invade the city. The U.S. Embassy would close and perhaps evacuate staff from the country. Little hope was offered for Carmen to be able to leave with Jenee in her arms.

In her presentation, Fifteen Minutes Off, Carmen shares the nail-biting, sometimes humorous and always heart-warming celebration of a mother’s tenacious love coupled with the unwavering support and prayers of her own mother and friends. Audiences are inspired to recognize that, regardless of how dire a situation may seem, we are not left alone, helpless or hopeless. We may not see it at the time, but behind the scenes our lives are impacted by a God’s perfect timing and unfailing love.
